  • What is a truck registration inspection?

A truck registration inspection checks that a heavy vehicle meets required road safety and mechanical standards before registration can be renewed or approved. The inspection involves assessing important components such as brakes, steering, suspension, tyres and lights to confirm the vehicle is safe to operate on public roads.

  • How often does a truck need a registration inspection?

Inspection requirements can vary depending on the vehicle type, age and registration conditions. Many heavy vehicles require annual inspections before registration renewal, while some vehicles may require inspections more frequently. Checking the specific registration requirements for the vehicle helps ensure compliance with regulations.

  • What is a defect clearance for a truck?

A defect clearance inspection confirms that issues identified in a defect notice have been repaired correctly. After repairs are completed, the vehicle is inspected again to ensure it meets road safety requirements. Once cleared, the vehicle can usually return to legal operation on the road.

What We Look For

When we inspect a heavy vehicle, we ensure it meets the required safety standards. Our authorised inspectors check:

  • Steering
  • Lights
  • Brakes
  • Suspension
  • Tyres
  • Windscreens
  • Horns
  • Airbags
  • Batteries
  • Wiper blades
  • Rust

Issues with these components are the most common reasons vehicles fail inspection. Our inspectors and mechanics will work with you to ensure your heavy vehicle is safe and ready to hit the road before assisting with the registration process. We have the experience and the tools to provide registrations, servicingrepairs and more—whether your vehicle is a light commercial van or a truck.
